Scottie Scheffler pockets another $3.6 million with RBC Heritage win

Scottie Scheffler has continued to prove why he’s the World No.1 in the 2024 season. The American golfer bagged his fourth victory of the year at the RBC Heritage. He pocketed $3.6 million from the event’s $20 million prize purse at Harbour Town.

He became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win two major championships back to back in a week. His earlier victory was at The Masters in Augusta National. Sahith Theegala snatched the 2nd spot pocketing $2.18 million and Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark tied for 3rd with $1.18 million.

Earlier in the season, Scheffler faced criticism due to his putting, although his caddie Ted Scott said, “He’s a very, very good putter.” Prior to winning his latest event, he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and also the 2024 Players Championship. When asked by a reporter how he’s feeling after so many wins, he said,

I think it’s funny how quickly the narrative can change around here. I think a lot of people are just prisoners of the moment. Scottie Scheffler as per Jack Milko of SB Nation.

Following his incredible win at Harbour Town, Scheffler said that he’s only interested in focusing on his game. He’s “not going to sit here and say I told you so or anything like that”. He noted that he has high expectations from himself and he tries to give his 100% when entering a tournament.

Scottie Scheffler talked about his preparation for the PGA tournaments, mentioning how he’s been working on his putting skills all this time. Talking about last year’s performance, he said he was “playing some good golf and wasn’t winning,” but finally “it’s nice to be seeing some results.”

Scheffler was asked what his plans were as he was going to be a father soon. He replied, “It was part of our plan to come here and play this week” He added that he went back to his wife a couple of times in between and celebrated with her, but he’s also focusing on his game.

After The Masters’ victory, he said golf was his fourth priority as his wife Meredith, and his soon-to-be-born child come on top of the list. The duo is excited to welcome his first child by the end of this month.
