The Los Angeles Dodgers added Yohan Ramírez to their active roster and optioned Landon Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club. To make room on the 40-man roster for Ramírez, Eduardo Salazar was desginated for assignment.

The Dodgers acquired Ramírez from the New York Mets for cash considerations on Monday morning. Because he was out of Minor League options, the Dodgers had to add him to their active roster.

The right-handed reliever owns a career 4.29 ERA, 4.89 FIP and 1.35 WHIP across 138.1 innings, striking out 23.5% of hitters and walking 12.2%.

He spent time with the Orioles this season prior to joining the Mets, and overall, he’s posted a 6.91 ERA in 14.1 innings. However, he also owns a 3.57 FIP and 3.77 expected ERA.

Ramírez has struck out 26.2% of hitters this year, translating to 10.67 strikeouts per nine. He’s also limited walks well enough, with a 9.2% rate.

The 29-year-old has spent parts of five seasons at the Major League level, but has bounced around. He has stints with the Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Guardians, Orioles, Chicago White Sox and Mets.

Ramírez still has three years of arbitration remaining, which keeps him under team control, if the Dodgers wish to keep him. He is currently on his final year of pre-arbitration.

The Dodgers have acquired middle relivers with team control in the past, with various levels of success, including Phil Bickford and Evan Phillips, and more recently, Connor Brogdon and Banda.

The Dodgers recalled Landon Knack on Sunday to start the series finale against the Cincinnati Reds, which allowed Yoshinobu Yamamoto to get an extra day of rest. In addition, they also added Anthony Banda to the roster at the same time, optioning J.P. Feyereisen and Ricky Vanasco.

Knack pitched 4.2 innings for the Dodgers, giving up one run on three hits with five strikeouts to one walk. Banda ended up earning the win after pitching a perfect 10th inning.

Knack now returns to Triple-A, where he will continue to stay stretched out as a starter, and should be back with the Dodgers again whenever they need another starting pitcher.

Dodgers designate Eduardo Salazar for assignment

Salazar made his Dodger debut on May 15, allowing one run in two innings against the Giants before being optioned the next day.

The Cumana, Venezuela native has pitched for the Reds (2023) and Dodgers (2024) in his Major League career, allowing 12 runs in 14.1 innings with eight strikeouts.

He signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on November 16, 2023. If he clears waivers, he can report back to Triple-A.
